Annapolis, Maryland – This just in. Today, around 2 PM a gunman entered one of the newsrooms of the Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland.
He walked in and opened fire on the people in the office. The man fired a number of shots into the office, firing somewhat indiscriminately into the business space.
5 people have been reported dead and multiple people were injured during the incident. Police do not know yet how many people have been injured.
Police reported that the suspect is in custody. All we know about him so far is that he is a white man. They did say that the man used a shotgun in his attack.
Other Annapolis Newspapers Visited
The Baltimore Sun in Annapolis also got visited by the police just to be on the safe side. After all, the same company it owns the Capital Gazette. It would make sense that someone willing to attack one paper would attack both.
Phil Davis, one of the Gazette’s crime reporters, survived the shooting. He turned to Twitter to keep people posted on what was going on. In his tweet, he stated, “Gunman shot through the glass door to the office and opened fire on multiple employees,” which brought more attention to the incident.
He later explained, “There is nothing more terrifying than hearing multiple people get shot while you’re under your desk and then hear the gunman reload.”
Once police got there, they were able to get custody of the suspect. When evacuating the building, they had everyone leave in single file format and with their hands up.
Police interviewed the suspect extensively, hoping to determine a potential motive for the shooting. However, they have not found out what his reasoning was. Hopefully, the police will be able to determine a motive soon and put this man behind bars for life.
