VaxCash 2.0 is part of an effort to get more Marylanders fully protected from COVID-19. On Tuesday, Larry Hogan did announce a new booster action plan which includes cash prizes.

VaxCash and Maryland Lottery

More than 95 percent of Maryland adults, based on the data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have indicated they are vaccinated against COVID-19. This is what Hogan said. Moreover, 72 percent of Maryland seniors have received booster shots. Also, Hogan just said that over half of the residents 18 and older have.

“Also, that is a lot better than the rest of the country. However, it is not good enough,” Hogan said.

VaxCash 2.0 Promotion

For the state, the governor has announced a $2 million VaxCash 2.0 promotion. Moreover, the Maryland Lottery is going to use a random number generator. It will pick and award one boosted Marylander each week for 12 straight weeks, Hogan said.

Initial $500,000 Drawing

The special initial $500,000 drawing on February 15th, VaxCash is going to kick off. It will make Marylanders who have already received the booster shot or those who get it by Monday. They, in turn, will automatically be eligible to win the $500,000 prize.

The winners will be selected each week for $50,000 prizes during weeks two through 11. Then, in week 12, there is a grand prize winner that will receive $1 million.

“However, we are hoping that this lottery will reinforce the importance of getting every Marylander. Thus, we can get boosted against COVID-19 which is so they can be protected against this virus and its variants,”

“We’re hoping that this lottery will reinforce the importance of getting every Marylander that we can boost against COVID-19 so that they can be protected against this virus and its variants,” Hogan said.

To be eligible to win, you must be 18 and older, a Maryland resident, and have received all of your shots (primary doses and booster) in the state of Maryland. The Maryland Department of Health will contact the winners.
